Asset group
An asset group is Performance Max’s creative unit: a themed collection of headlines, descriptions, images, videos, and audience signals from which Google assembles ads for every surface.
— In practice
Asset groups replace the ad-group-and-ad hierarchy inside PMax. The working practice is one asset group per coherent theme — a product line, a customer intent, a margin band — with genuinely distinct creative per group, so the system can match message to context rather than serving one generic blend everywhere.
Since asset groups lack full per-group reporting, discipline in naming and theming is what keeps the structure auditable.
